Rainford sinks Brighouse

Former Halifax Town player Jamie Rainford ensured Brighouse Town's form slump continued yesterday.

The striker scored both goals as Glossop North End were 2-0 home winners in Evo-Stik NPL Division One North.

Rainford struck in the 58th and 88th minutes to take the Derbyshire side to the top of the table, a position Paul Quinn’s visitors occupied just a short time ago.

Brighouse slipped to sixth but are still only two points behind the leaders in a congested summit.

Quinn must be concerned by his side’s recent record.

Brighouse have won only one of their last seven games and picked up three points out of a possible last 15. They have also failed to score in their three most recent games.

Brighouse return to Hove Edge next Saturday to face eighth-placed Kendal Town.
