Shaymen win on penalties in FA Youth Cup

FC Halifax Town beat York City 4-3 on penalties after a dramatic 2-2 draw at The Shay on Wednesday night to progress to the second round of the FA Youth Cup.

York hit the bar inside the first minute before taking the lead 20 minutes later through Alex Bruton.

The away side doubled their lead after half-time thanks to Zac Lawrence’s free-kick.

Town then launched an incredible comeback by scoring two late goals, the first in the 90th minute through Jack Johnson, before Josh Debenham equalised in injury time.

Jake Thompson then scored the decisive spot-kick to send The Shaymen through.
