Martin Woods gave Town a first-half lead before James Bell quickly brought the hosts level.

Striker Kyle Hudlin won the game with a stunning strike in a second-half dominated by The Shaymen.

"If reports are to be believed, they've got nearly a million pound more budget than us and we've just gone toe-to-toe with them and been far and away the better side," said Wild.

"Two worlies have won it, we could do better, certainly with the second one, so there are bits we need to do better there.

"But we've had chance after chance after chance and, unfortunately, just not taken them.

"Last week they were dropping in for us but unfortunately they didn't tonight.

"But the performance, the style of play, gives me hope.

"I think you're seeing a dominant team that's going to places like Solihull, one of the so-called bigger teams in this league, and we're showing we're punching with teams like that."

Town did everything but equalise, with Jack Earing, Luke Summerfield and Nyal Bell all going close, and Neill Bryne hitting the post.

"That's what's unfortunate because the lads deserve more tonight, and you can see how delighted they (Solihull) are coming off the pitch because we've absolutely gone to war with them," Wild said.

"I think if the referee's stronger tonight and he doesn't get bullied by them, then I think we come away with a point.

"But, listen, the referee is what he is.

"I'm proud of the lads tonight, I think they gave us everything they'd got but unfortunately we come off on the wrong side of a 2-1 instead of the right side of a 2-1."

When asked what had pleased his most about his team's performance, Wild said: "We're just dominant, we run all over teams, we pass all over teams and we create chance after chance.

"I think we're really exciting to watch. Our style of play will do us good across the 44 games.

"Sometimes you get results like that, and losing your centre-forward early doesn't help the situation, but we had more than enough tonight to win the game, and I'm disappointed for the lads because they gave everything."

On the injury that forced Jake Hyde off in the first-half, Wild said: "He's sore. It could be a hamstring, we need to assess it over the next few days and see what that is.

"But he's not in a good way."
