Stockport 1-1 Halifax: Point a good result, reflects Heath

Town boss Billy Heath was happy with a point at Stockport, but felt his side could have taken all three at Edgeley Park.

Tom Denton’s opener was cancelled out in the second-half by Scott Duxbury’s header, but Halifax maintained their unbeaten start to the season to remain top of the Conference North.

“I think it’s a good point away from home but we’re a little bit disappointed because I think we had the best of the chances,” said Heath.

“They pushed really hard second-half and got themselves into some decent areas but I think we had the best chances.

“On one hand we’re slightly disappointed we haven’t come away with three points but at the end of the day, when you come to Stockport in a midweek game away from home a point’s not bad.”

Denton notched his sixth goal in four games for The Shaymen, and Heath believes the striker is producing the best form he has seen.

“His consistency is as good as it’s been,” Heath said. “He’s always been very difficult to play against but the consistency of his performances is probably the best we’ve seen.

“He’s come to the club and he’s been fantastic.

“He’s a very good player.”

However, Heath was frustrated at the manner of Stockport’s equaliser, which saw winger Josh Macdonald left marking defender Scott Duxbury at a free-kick.

“That’s disappointing because Josh (Macdonald) shouldn’t have been there. We talked about it before the game,” Heath said.

“We should have had other people in those areas when they boy came onto the ball.”

Heath admitted he urgently needs to bring in some new faces after Town’s injury list got longer during the match.

He added: “The biggest problem we’ve got now injuries.

“Obviously we missed Danny Hone, we’ve still got Liam King to try and get right for the weekend.

“Josh Wilde has got a hamstring problem and Nathan Hotte’s got a groin problem.

“And we lose Cliff Moyo on Saturday for a suspension.

“So we haven’t got a lot of time to rectify that and we’ve got to see what we can do urgently to get some players in.

“We’re working hard on that but it seems a slow process at the minute.

“We must get some in before Saturday because we are really down to nothing now.

“We’re hoping Liam King and Danny Hone will be back for Saturday but it’s a hope at the minute - they’ve both got back problems, and they’re very difficult to control.”
