Goodwin, 19, agreed terms following Monday night’s 5-1 Evo-Stik Doodson Cup victory over Spennymoor Town.

The Wigan-based keeper has made an impressive start between the sticks at Station View after joining on non-contract terms in November.

He has been an ever-present figure in Railway’s last 17 matches, which has seen 12 victories and six clean sheets.

Boss Billy Miller said: “

Miller said: “We’re doing this after a string of really of good performances.

“It is no secret over the the last 16 or 17 games that he has been a big part of why we have suddenly gone from the bottom half of the league to where we are now (in the play-offs).

“The introduction of Tom has been phenomenal for us and it is only right as a club that we can reward that in offering Tom as contract.

“He travels a long way to play for us so we are going to make sure financially that he is not out of pocket.

“If he fulfils his potential, he will certainly play at a very good level of non-league football, if not higher.”

The former AFC Fylde youth team player spent two days on trial at Scottish club Alloa last week, and Blackburn Rovers have also scouted him over the last month.

As part of his contract, he can pursue a move to either club if an offer was presented.

“Because that interest was before the contract was signed, all the agreements will stand,” added Miller.

Goodwin, who had trials at Manchester United as a junior, said: “It’s brilliant being here.

“Just playing at a high standard is all I have ever wanted. This has been a big step up but I am only 19, and I still have a lot to learn.”

Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Bamber Bridge took Railway up to the dizzy heights of fourth in the table and Miller’s men put in another emphatic performance to reach the cup quarter-finals on Monday.

Stephen Bromley netted Rail’s winner against Bamber, after Fatlum Ibrahimi’s opener had been cancelled out.
