Ade Azeez's second-half goal proved decisive at Plainmoor, condemning Town to their first league defeat of the year.

"I thought it was an even game," said Wild. "I thought we had our chances and didn't take them.

"Their goal is ridiculous. The ref's been told six times there's three of their players in an offside position to block us, and he's done nothing about it, again and again and again.

"I was disappointed with the way the referee spoke to my players today as well, which has compounded our misery unfortunately.

"But we've had two unbelievable opportunities at the end, but they've done well and blocked them, so you've got to give the opposition credit for that, as frustrated as I am.

"We didn't deserve to lose the game did we. They had one chance and scored, and we've had three or four great opportunities and they've pout bodies on the line and managed to get over the line, so fair play to them."

Wild added on the Torquay goal: "They've got three lads off a set-piece standing offside - why are they stood offside when a set-piece is coming in? Because they're trying to block us, but we've had no protection from the referee.

"It's disappointing because we've come away from a hard graft and deserved at least a point, but we get done off something the referee should be spotting, especially after he's been told six times."

Wild saw plenty of positives from the game, and said he couldn't have asked any more of his players.

"It's not as though we're not creating chances," the Town boss said. "I didn't think it was Cameron (King) or Devante's (Rodney) day today which is why I decided to switch it up and get some fresh impetus on the pitch.

"It's one of those days. We did everything to win the game but unfortunately we've been done off something that's avoidable.

"The lads were great, and I think that's why everyone's so frustrated because it's a ridiculous decision in the end.

"But it's gone now, and we move on."
