Torquay v FC Halifax Town: Preview

FC Halifax Town could guarantee their National League status for next season if they beat Torquay on Saturday (3pm) and other results go their way.

If Barrow beat Ebbsfleet, Town are not safe whatever happens on Saturday, but Town would be safe if Barrow lose and they beat Torquay.

The Gulls could be relegated on Saturday if they fail to beat Halifax, and Woking win against Bromley.

Only Guiseley have won fewer home games in the National League than Torquay, while only Chester and Guiseley have scored fewer home goals.

Gary Owers’ side are in mixed form, having won two, lost two and drawn one of their last five games.

Halifax, who are now 12th in the table, are the joint-lowest scorers away from home in the division, but have lost only once since manager Jamie Fullarton was appointed.

Town’s away record does leave a bit to be desired though, with only one win in their last nine matches on the road.

Halifax’s last win at Torquay was in September 2002, when goals from Paul Stoneman, Paul Harsley, Craig Middleton and Matthew Clarke sealed a 4-2 win.
