Two sides kicked out of Halifax FA Cup

Holders Halifax Hammers and Ryburn Valley have been thrown out of this season’s Halifax FA Eddie Hebblethwaite Sunday Cup competition.

Both teams were discovered to have played an ineligible player in their first round wins.

Hammers, who beat Beehive & Cross Keys 4-0 in last season’s final, had started their defence with an 11-4 win over Triangle at Savile Park in the first round on October 18.

Ryburn Valley beat Barge FC 4-2 at Rastrick High School but Barge have now been awarded the game and will be away to Hollins Holme in three weeks’ time.

King Cross Park and Hen’s Face won second round matches a fortnight ago.

Other ties were postponed and the Queens Head v Oddfellows 97, FC Bowling Green v Carrington FC, Mount Tabor v St Columbas and Ryburn United v Waiters Arms games will now also take place on December 20.
