Former FC Halifax Town striker Jamie Vardy is backing his former club in their FA Trophy final against Grimsby Town.

The 29-year-old signed for Halifax Town in June 2010 and scored 27 goals as the Shaymen won promotion to the Blue Square Bet North.

Ten years ago, he was still coming to terms with the disappointment of being rejected by Sheffield Wednesday and now striker has been integral to Leicester City being crowned Premier League champions.

Vardy netted in 11 consecutive games to set a new Premier League scoring record and will play an important role in the England line up for Euro 2016 this summer.

Despite The Shaymen being relegated from the National League last Saturday, he is wishing them the best on their Wembley date on Sunday May 22.

Around 35,000 tickets have been sold for a non-League showpiece double-header that also includes the FA Vase final between Hereford and Morpeth Town.
