Bamford spurs Bridge to victory

Hebden Bridge put their semi-local knowledge to good use in winning the Halifax-Huddersfield Union’s Second Division Scratch Team Championship at Todmorden yesterday.

The Rive Rocks quartet of George Bamford, Henry Butterworth, Iain Powell and Mark Powell totalled 317 to win by two shots from Hanging Heaton.

Four handicapper Bamford shot a 74, the best of the day and one better than Outlane three handicapper Jarrad Hazelden.

Ryburn and Outlane were the other two teams to make it through to the Scratch Team Championship at Saddleworth on Sunday, June 29.

Clubs have been asked to forward team names and handicaps for the Saddleworth event to Union secretary John Lawrence as soon as possible so that he can make the draw.
