Runaway win for Park pair

They notched 44 stableford points with some very consistent scoring and only the “easy” 14th hole played over par.

Two pairs finished on 39 points with Scot Minto (4) and Brian Minto (11) of Hanging Heaton getting second on a better back nine from David Campbell (5) and Shaun Campbell (6) of Meltham.

There was a first win as a professional for Toby Garrett in the pro-am section.

The Crosland Heath player and Mike Lawrie (9) scored 41 points with West End’s Darren Arber gaining more points in his order of merit quest in joint third.

Conditions favoured the big hitters. Although it was warm and sunny with only a light wind, the course was very soft and did not dry out until early afternoon.

With no run on the ball, the course played very long from the back tees and there was only one nett eagle scored on the day.

The greens were bumpy, another factor contributing to very few good scores.

The next Alliance is the Ronnie Parkinson Trophy at Elland on Tuesday, April 21.
