Lady Captain, Irena Brown, finally held her Drive-In on Thursday, June 25, the hottest day of the year, and a friendly team Texas Scramble was won by Gill Kneely, Jenny Edwards and Jane Studd.
The Drive-Ins signalled the start of the season at the club, which Rabbits Captain Andy Wade says is flourishing since players were allowed to return.

”We’re back on track,” he said. “We were able to play two, then three and four balls with all the aspects in place like not touching the flags.

“We feel like we can now play the season. Some competitions had to be let go, so it’s a re-shaped set of fixtures, but our majors are all in place.

”The Ladies Captains Drive-in and our Captains Drive-in two weeks ago signalled the start of the season, so we’re up and away now.

”It’s been better than before (lockdown). People have been able to enjoy golf because it’s outside, and with other sports like cricket and football not being able to take place fully, I think people from those sports have turned to golf in the meantime, so it’s been very popular.

”We have a strict way of booking through what is called the BRS system, so you can’t just turn up, we need to know people are distanced in terms of their tee times.”

The club is welcome to anyone who would like to play golf.
