High school hosts national fell running championships

Calder High School in Mythomroyd has been hosting the English Schools National Fell Running Championships.

It is the first time the event has been held in Yorkshire and been hosted by a comprehensive school.

The school wanted to continue the ‘buzz’ that was created throughout Yorkshire with the Tour de France and celebrate their links with Calder Valley Running Team, who have helped to organise the event.

On hand to start the races and present the medals was Great Britain mountain runner Emma Clayton who recently won an individual and team silver in the World Mountain Running Championships in Poland.
