Crossley Heath continued their enviable record in the Yorkshire Cup after reaching the final for the fifth successive year following a 35-7 win over Brighouse High School at Heath RUFC.
In the previous four seasons they have won three finals at under 12, under 13 and under 15 levels, only losing to Quuen Elizabeth Grammar School in the under 14 final.
The game against Brighouse was a repeat of last seasons final which Crossley Heath won 22-5.
Expectation was high in the Brighouse camp with the news that Crossley Heath could only raise 14 players, due to injuries and last minute withdrawals. The squad included four players from the under 15 team
Crossley Heath put the first points on the board when Nunn converted a penalty. Shortly after second row Lewis Ackroyd broke through the Brighouse defence for an 8-0 lead.
A further penalty made it 11-0 before Brighouse found their forward momentum
Brighouse then found their forward momentum and after multiple drives by their forwards their excellent play was rewarded with a converted try. Crossley Heath responded immediately when a Jamie Highley turnover resulted in scrum Half Will MacDonald scoring. Nunn converted to open up an 18-7 advantage at the break.
Crossley Heath continued in the same vein and most of the second half was played in the Brighouse half. Further tries came from Nathan Cooper, Jacob Oldroyd and Nathan Cornish to complete an excellent win.
