Don’t look at the table: Ball

Old Rishworthians coach Damian Ball has warned his side not to become distracted by the Yorkshire Three table ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Burley.

Rishies currently sit on top of the pile after last weekend’s win over Bramley Phoenix at Copley.

But Ball, who arrived at the club in the summer after a long career in rugby league, insists it is too early in the season for league positions to be relevant.

“We’re happy with the progress we’re making and we’re pleased with the position we’re in, but it’s too soon to start talking about league positions,” said Ball.

“We’ve won four out of five, but there’s a few teams, including Burley, who have won three.

“It doesn’t take much to put you right back in that chasing pack so we just need to concentrate on getting our own game in order and see how far that takes us.”

Ball expects to field a largely unchanged side in Leeds, for a game he predicts will “be extremely tough”.
