Game off after goals problem

THERE was disappointment for Division Six teams Ladybirds and Gems when their match in the North Bridge Leisure Centre League had to be postponed on Monday.

They turned up along with the umpires to discover that there were no bases for the goals on one of the courts due to be used.

With four other matches set to take place - although Cougars conceded their game against Lion’s Pride which was due to be the last of the night - leisure centre staff had to make a lightning trip to the Ridings at Ovenden to fetch some more bases.

Lisa McIntosh, who runs the league but was not working on Monday evening, said the regular bases had been sent off to be repaired because teams had complained they were cracked.

They hadn’t been returned on schedule, leading to the problem. She said the Ladybirds v Gems contest would be re-arranged later in the season.
