Halifax RUFC were left distraught after slipping to a 6-5 loss against Leeds Modernians in Yorkshire Three.
Halifax scored the only try of the match, which was played in horrendous conditions, but it wasn’t enough as Mods claimed the victory.
Halifax crossed in the first half when Oli Marns, making his return to the Ovenden Park club, broke clear and released Elliott Mercer to score in the corner.
However despite dominating for long periods, Halifax were trailing at the break as in-discipline allowed the visitors to slot over two penalties.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Halifax enjoying the most of the territory and possession but they lacked the finishing touch.
The closest they got was a Richard Cole penalty which sailed agonisingly wide.
Halifax will now head to Aireborough looking to rediscover the form that saw them win four of their first five games.
