Halifax top Yorkshire Four after routing Hessle 47-5 last weekend but will have to content themselves a friendly fixture against Stanley Rodillians tomorrow.

Mark Walton’s side host the Yorkshire Five outfit at Ovenden Park as they look to fine tune their game for next week’s showdown with unbeaten Stocksbridge.

“Last week was a good result for us,” said Halifax captain Duane West.

“It’s not often you go over to Hull and come away with a scoreline like that so we can definitely be satisfied with that.

“It’s nice to be top, but Ossett’s game was abandoned so they’ve got a game in hand.

“Overall, we’re happy and hopefully it will carry on coming together for us over the next few weeks.”

Halifax’s early season success means confidence is high, prompting West to draw comparisons with last season.

“Everyone is confident and looking forward to getting out there against Stocksbridge and testing themselves,” he said.

“That’s a good thing for us; everyone is wanting the games to come around quickly so they can get back out on the field.”
