Under-strength Crocs no match for Pocklington

Pocklington 52 Old Crossleyans 0

Old Crossleyans suffered another North One East defeat amid difficult circumstances.

Missing 11 first teamers through injuries, work commitments and holidays, their scratch side found the going tough against a fit and strong Pockington unit with an average age of 21 and who had been together since Colts.

Their superior teamwork was demonstrated by the fact that they scored seven tries - all converted - and a penalty.

Playing on a parched pitch, contrasting sharply with the snow of last week and the bog at Middlesbrough, Crocs were stretched to the limit.

Three of the team had travelled up from the south, one returned prematurely from injury while a third was originally out of the reckoning but came in on the bench.

Crocs’ woes were compounded when they suffered two injuries in the game which required replacements.

Pocklington full back Nick Bennett crossed twice, and kicked all his side’s goals, with wing Tom Nixon also touching down twice. Further tries from prop Chris Morton and centre Jack Holbrough made up the tally.
