Third seed Scott Waites lost 3-1 to fellow England player Robbie Green in the quarter finals of the 40th Winmau World Masters at Hull City Hall yesterday.
The event, which was won by Halifax’s Waites in 2011, went to top seed Stephen Bunting, who beat James Wilson 7-0 in the final.
Meanwhile, BDO world champion Waites has been seeded seven for the defence of his crown at the Lakeside, Frimley Green in January.
Waites, a best priced 5-1 to regain the title, will play Alan Norris in the first round.
