Halifax Harriers athlete Hannah Walker finished just outside the medals in the recent English Championships Combined Events at Stoke.
Competing in the Under 15s section for the final time, and in her first ever Hexathlon, Walker enjoyed a really solid first day, matching her personal best in the 75m hurdles, setting a new one of 5.05 in the long jump and also finishing in the top half of the field in the javelin.
On the second day, she fell a long way short of her best with a disappointing 1.41 in the high jump, but creditable performances in both the shot and 800m saw her finish the event with 3,122 points.
That was good enough for fifth place in the overall competition and earned her silver in the Northern Championship which was incorporated into the main event.
Walker’s final outdoor event of the season will be when competing in the English Schools Combined Events Championships at Exeter later this month.
