The Knaresborough motor-cyclist was twice on course for a maiden race win at Brands Hatch’s triple header weekend before sliding down the grid. However, in finishing 4th, 6th and 8th , he became the only rider to have collected points in every single one of the 26 races.

The points haul meant Linfoot finished the championship in fifth, ten points behind Yamaha rider Tommy Bridgewell in third. But in making the final six-man shoot-out, Linfoot was already celebrating the best season of his career to date.

The 26-year-old said: ““It was a bit of an up and down weekend but I’ve got to be pleased with how my year’s gone. To finish fifth overall and score points in every race is something I’m very pleased with so a big thank you to everyone in the team.”

Shane Byrne, Kawasaki, won the championship for a fourth time as he finished 62 points ahead of the rest, and 105 ahead of Linfoot.

Linfoot’s Quatro Plant Kawasaki team did enjoy their first race win of the season at Brands Hatch as Linfoot’s teammate Howie Mainwaring took the chequered flag in the weekend opener.

“I was absolutely over the moon to see Howie win. I’d have loved to have joined him on the podium,” added Linfoot.
