The Courier Runners group is designed for runners of all ages, abilities and experience levels and in its first week, has already attracted more than 160 new members.

Whether you are looking to get into running or an experienced runner who wants to share tips, stories and challenges with other like-minded runners, the group is open to all and offers local people the opportunity to share their stories, tips and challenges, while also offering help, advice and motivation to start or continue their exercise programme.

The new, free, virtual running group allows members to track activities and monitor progress, participate in challenges and events or simply read posts from group members and pick-up advice and tips.

The emphasis is very much on fun and the enjoyment of running, while also promoting the work of established local running clubs and communicating news of their own success stories and events.

Working with the Halifax Courier’s sports department, Courier Runners will also present new exclusive features, competitions, promotions and news in the papers and online.

You can download the Strava app, use the basic service and join the group all for free so with the new year ahead, now is the perfect time to get involved.

There will be more news on the exciting new group in the coming weeks.

For more information and to join, visit the Strava website at www.strava.com and search for Courier Runners.
