Stainland Lions duo take on Manchester Virtual Marathon

The Manchester Virtual Marathon can be run anytime in October and, to date, two Stainland Lions have completed theirs.

Alex Whyte chose to run hers alongside the Virtual London Marathon runners last Sunday, clocking 6 hours 49 minutes, and Clayton Cutter opted to run his on World Mental Health Day - which also happened to be his birthday.

Clayton had support from a number of fellow club members who ran alongside him for sections of the route and cheered him to the finish line in 3 hours 42 minutes.

He said: “l’ll definitely take that with no training and only starting running again in September!’ Clayton was fundraising for Overgate Hospice.

There were some fast times recorded by Lions at Sunday’s Tatton Park 10k.

Gavin Foster was 17th in 35.54, Gavin Dodd ran 41.04 and Danny Stafford came in with a big personal best time of 44.51.

Stephen Brook of Queensbury Running Club ran it in 49.04 1st vet 70 and finished 249th.
