Mounsey came second to fellow GB runner Ross Golan at the amazing Vesuvio Sky Marathon Race, a trail race of 42km on the world-famous Italian volcano on May 6.

Page, meanwhile has had the kind of fortnight most athletes can only dream of, running two cracking races.

She won the 55-mile Yading Sky Run in the Migu Run Summer World Series in China on April 30, despite food poisoning and travel nightmares.

Initially lacking in confidence about the largely uphill course with 16,000 feet of climbing, she went out hard from the gun and gave it her all in blizzard conditions to finish in an astounding 3:32:04, one and a half minutes in front of fellow GB runner Ruthie Crofty.

Less than two weeks later, Page finished ninth for Great Britain in the 2018 Trail World Championships Penyagolosa ultra trail race. It was over an eye-watering 85km - 25km longer than she had ever run before - with 5,000 metres of climbing in the Spanish heat.

Page, who admitted to being petrified when getting her GB call in January, is now starting to accept that rather than being just a ‘jolly jogger’, she can mix it with some of the fastest women in the world.
