Matches in the last 16 of the Halifax FA Saturday Cup took centre stage for the amateur footballers and last season’s finalists Ealandians and Huddersfield Amateur made it through again alongside Ryburn United from the West Riding CA and Halifax AFL teams Shelf FC, Shelf United, Sowerby Bridge, AFC Crossleys and Elland United.

Our pictures are from Shelf United’s 2-1 win over Elland Allstars on the 3G pitch at Lightcliffe Academy.

Park Lane Academy’s all-weather pictures were busy as usual on a Saturday afternoon with Halifax Hockey Club hosting a handful of matches.

The ladies first team fought out a goalless draw against Lindum in a North Women’s League top of the table contest while the men’s first team had a fine 5-2 win away to Sheffield Hallam in the Yorkshire Premier.

Our pictures are from Halifax men’s seconds match against City of York which resulted in a 4-0 defeat for the local side.

Old Crossleyans, Heath and Old Brodleians all won their rugby union matches on Saturday and fill three of the top four places in Yorkshire One.

We also have pictures from Old Rishworthians’ defeat at Keighley, which leaves the Coply club propping up the same section.
