Fax v Dewsbury: Clubs aim for Tuesday night rearrangement after rain stops play

Halifax’s Championship fixture against Dewsbury at the Shay, called off on Sunday, is now likely to be played on Tuesday night.

The Rugby Football League’s match commissioner inspected the ground’s playing surface at 10am on Sunday morning and deemed it unplayable.

The postponement followed last week’s scratched game at Featherstone in the aftermath of Storm Ciara, opening the door on a potential mid-season fixture pile up.

Consequently, Fax officials are now working towards a swift Tuesday evening re-arrangement, which has already been agreed by both clubs and the stadium’s management team.

Confirmation is expected on Monday, pending the approval of the RFL.

Halifax Town’s game on Saturday afternoon also fell victim to the weather as Storm Dennis raged across the country.
