Fax v Rams: Easter Monday fixture now definitely OFF

Confusion briefly surrounded Halifax's Championship fixture at Dewsbury after a morning of heavy snow in West Yorkshire before it was finally called off at lunchtime.

The Rams initially pulled the plug on the game at 11am, making official announcements on their social media channels.

In a farcical turn of events, they then backtracked 20 minutes later, saying the RFL had asked for a second pitch inspection.

Then a third announcement confirmed what had always seemed inevitable, leaving Fax with a two-game backlog after their match at Batley earlier in the season also fell victim to the weather.

Fax boss Richard Marshall, who was planning to make use of his free afternoon by watching next Sunday’s opponents London play at Leigh, said he was “frustrated” his side were denied the chance to build on their comprehensive win over Barrow on Good Friday.

With the Rams and the Bulldogs joining Fax in making early exits from the Challenge Cup, it seems both games are likely would be played on the weekends allocated for the competition’s later rounds rather than midweek slots.
