Garrod drop goal decisive

A Shaun Garrod drop goal gave them victory against opponents who had a player dismissed in each half for dissent.

Dockers went 6-0 up but Siddal were level by the break thanks to a Freddie Walker try converted by Gareth Blackburn.

The home side scored a second try and added a penalty for a 12-6 lead but Garrod scored his customary try and Blackburn’s kick levelled it up.

Visiting stand off Garrod then snatched the spoils with a one-pointer and second-placed Leigh Miners Rangers’ 28-10 defeat at Wigan St Patrick’s completed a good day for the Chevinedge men.

Third-placed Wath Brow Hornets are five points behind the leaders after a 40-18 win at York Acorn.

Siddal now have a couple of weekends off, returning at home to Kells on September 3.

Elland’s torrid season continued with an 80-10 home defeat by promotion hopefuls Skirlaugh in Division One.

They travel to Myton Warriors on Saturday.
