Garrod leads way for Siddal

Shaun Garrod stole the show as Siddal thrashed Wigan St Judes for the second time this season in the National Conference League’s Premier Division.

The playmaker capped a man of the match display with four tries as the Chevinedge men won 50-16 away to retain pole position and a day when the other top sides also won.

Siddal had won the first meeting 68-8 in mid-April and they showed the bottom side little mercy, storming into a 34-12 interval lead.

He second half was less productive but it was still a satisfactory success with Richard Lopag, Will Forsyth, Tom Garratt and replacements Joe Wrigley and Steve Hope also touching down.

Fullback Gareth Blackburn kicked seven goals.

Elland’s fine run in Division Two was brought to a juddering halt at Dudley Hill, where the second-placed side were thrashed 54-6.

It was close up to half time with the Bradford side, in good form themselves, only 12-6 to the good.

However, it was one-way traffic after the break and Dudley Hill finished with 10 tries, prop Cayci Pearson touching down for the visitors whose hopes of catching leaders Kells now look remote.

Kells, beaten only by Elland this season, racked up a 122-7 home win over Waterhead.

Ovenden won 27-10 away to next-to-bottom Castleford Panthers and stay fourth, ahead of Dudley Hill on points difference.

The Four Fields men had only three on the bench but it made little difference as they stretched away after leading 6-0 at the break.

Two-try fullback Luke O’Mara was their star man and other tries came from Arran Varley, Chris Geoghegan and Reece Ogden with Nathan Smith kicking three goals.
