Halifax RLFC: Halifax legend is VIP guest at event

One of Halifax's most fondly remembered Aussies will be the special guest at a supporters evening to be held at The Shay on November 16.

Michael Hagan scored 125 points in 92 appearances during spells with the club in 1984-85 and 1993–1995 before enjoying an illustrious playing and coaching career in his native Australia.

He is visiting as team manager with the Kangaroos for the Four Nations tournament.

As well as talking about his times at Thrum Hall and answering questions from the audience he will be presented with his heritage certificate (number 936).

Supporters will also get to meet new signings Shane Grady and Matt Haggerty, and the 2017 home shirt will be unveiled.

The event takes place at 7pm on Wednesday, November 16 in the Harvey’s Banqueting Suite at the Shay Stadium.

Admission is free.

Unearthing some Halifax history

Fond memories of the Thrum Hall era are being brought to the surface as the club’s rich local history is cultivated and showcased as part of the club’s heritage lottery grant. The grant opened two heritage co-ordinator positions, filled by club historian, Andrew Hardcastle and former GB students assistant coach, Ian Buckley, who has 35 years of teaching and 44 years of fandom under his belt. The project will require more eager hands in 2017 to help prepare the upcoming static museum for the public eye.
