Halifax RLFC investigating after Tweet by Ed Barber over new coronavirus restrictions

Halifax RLFC say they are investigating after a Tweet by player Ed Barber, commenting on the latest coronavirus measures introduced by the government.

Under new restrictions, people from separate households in parts of northern England are banned from meeting each other at home due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Barber Tweeted on Thursday evening in response to a news story on the subject “All these places which are all back in lockdown, what are they full of?”.

In a statement, Halifax RLFC said: “The club is aware of a tweet made by one of its employees, that has subsequently been withdrawn and clarified by that individual.

“This matter is now being addressed via the club’s internal investigation procedures.

“No further comment will be made at this time.’
