“I see Dan as a real coup for us” - Fax sign Murray from Hull KR on two-year deal

Halifax RLFC have signed forward Dan Murray on a two-year deal from Super League side Hull Kingston Rovers.

The 24-year-old returns to The Shay after previously enjoying two successful loan spells in 2017 and 2018 before becoming an established Super League player, impressing at Salford Red Devils and Hull KR.

Murray becomes Simon Grix’s fifth new signing ahead of the 2021 Betfred Championship campaign and the fourth with both Championship and Super League experience.

“I’m buzzing to be part of the club,” he said. “Having two brief stints at the club in 2017 and 2018, I loved every minute playing and loved what the club is about.

“Grixy has and is making some really exciting signings for next year. I’m really looking forward to meeting all the boys and seeing where it takes us for next year.”

Head coach Simon Grix said: “I see Dan as a real coup for us. We have had him before on loan where he was impressive on and off the pitch. He is maturing as a player and a person bringing Super League experience and high standards.

“He is a hard working player who will provide some punch for us in the middle of the field. We look forward to him joining us when his commitments at Hull KR are complete.”

Fax’s football director Ian Croad said: “Dan brings more than just size, he’s a skilful player who will add steel and guile to the pack. He impressed whilst on loan and we now welcome him to the Fax family.”
