Marshall: Side to face Rams will be our best so far

Marshall saw winger Gareth Potts and half back Ben Johnston make successful returns from injury in last weekend’s Challenge Cup romp against Castleford amateurs Lock Lane, leaving only former Warrington star Simon Grix - who is understood to be on compassionate leave to be with his ill daughter - on the list of unavailable players.

Marshall confirmed that Potts, who touched down twice on his return from a seven month absence with a shoulder injury, would face Glenn Morrison’s Rams, while back rower Ed Barber, who scored four tries, is also likely to be included.

“We will have a strong side out this weekend, that’s for sure,” said Marshall, who was reluctant to reveal further details of his line up.

“Maybe it will be the strongest team we have had out all year, although we won’t decide on the final line up until Friday night’s session.

“Potts will play and Ed will be part of the 17, but there are some dilemmas elsewhere.

“Some of those lads who came in last week showed some form and they’ve given us some decisions to make; I think we’re in a better place than we were before the Swinton game two weeks ago.

“There’s a lot of pressure on the 17 that play on Sunday because there are going to be a lot of players not playing, waiting for a chance.

“When that’s the case, the performance levels look after themselves.

“There’s nothing for us to hide behind this week.”
