Moore: Leigh loss will focus Fax for Rovers showdown

Half back Gareth Moore has said that last weekend's thumping at Leigh will only add to Halifax's focus in Sunday's top four Championship showdown against Featherstone at the Shay (3.0).

Fax were humiliated at the LSV, with the table topping Centurions romping to a 34-6 half time lead against a team that had been unbeaten in seven matches.

But Moore, who played for Rovers in 2015, is confident Fax will conjure a reaction against Jon Sharp’s outfit.

“We hadn’t been beaten in seven games and we travelled confident we could get a result,” said Moore, who has already been on the winning side against his former club twice this season.

“To put a performance in like that is not in our nature really.

“But it’s sometimes easier to come back from a loss like that rather than in a really close game; it’s put us back in our place and reminded us that we might not be as good as we thought we were.

“That will focus our attitude this weekend.

“We will turn up on Sunday and work hard for each other and get back to playing how we should be.

“From the start of the game, Leigh rolled us.

“They were too quick, too strong and we just didn’t get into the game.

“We completed at 40 per cent in the first half, against a team like that, with the attacking players they have.

“You just can’t do that.

“It’s hard playing as a half back when the middle aren’t winning, but everyone was off their game last weekend, across the park.

“We’re disappointed, but we have to forget about it now and focus on a big two weeks.

“We get another chance against Featherstone on Sunday.

“They’ll be confident, and they’ll want to get their own back on us a little bit after the Summer Bash game, so we’ll need to make sure we bring our A game this weekend.”
