Fax, with new backline recruit Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e making his debut at full back, ran in eight tries on their way to a 46-18 success that leaves them level on points with fourth-placed London Broncos.

QLT, who had only trained twice with his new teammates after moving from Toronto on Thursday, took his place in a team extensively reshuffled to accommodate him and repaid Marshall’s investment handsomely, supplying the final pass for three tries before racing clear from deep inside his own half to touchdown in the final quarter.

“It was a nice win,” said Marshall, who confirmed injured trio James Woodburn-Hall, Ed Barber and Ben Heaton were all at or nearing fitness.

“We made some changes to the team and everyone embraced that.

“We moved players around; Will Sharp to the wing, James Saltonstall to centre, Chester Butler into the back row and Simon Grix to loose forward.

“I thought Chester was excellent again was really instrumental in us winning that game and Will is an outstanding player wherever you play him.

“He’s taken Q coming in really well, because he knows it’s great for the team and it will bring him on as well.

“Scott Murrell is a quality player and he’s constantly weighing up space and numbers in the opposition line, but also our space and numbers.

“Having Q in behind him on that right edge, I thought they really clicked.

“It was scrappy at times, but I thought we were class in that last 20 minutes.

“We scored two or three tries from inside our own half, supporting the ball carrier.

“There aren’t too many teams that come here and score those points.

“There were a couple of dubious calls on forward passes; we try to attack at speed, flat and we’ve had the tries from Conor McGrath and Steve Tyrer chalked off so we could have had a couple more.

“Q added something; he’s got good feet, he always beats the first man in exit and he’s a constant danger with the ball.

“That puts defenders in two minds; do they jam in on him or hold off.

“It wasn’t his best game, he just came in and did a good, solid job.

“His talk was good and he was in the right place at the right time, I’m sure he’ll get even better.

“Hopefully we’ve seen what’s to come from this team over the next few months with ball in hand.”
