Pitch ready for Fax’s return

The Shay pitch is reported to be in good shape ahead of Halifax RLFC’s return to action there on Sunday.

Richard Marshall’s improving side have a crunch match against Sheffield in their bid to earn a top four place.

Fax last played in Halifax on May 17 when they beat Whitehaven 60-18 on May 17.

A defeat to Bradford Bulls at Odsal has been followed by wins over Workington, Featherstone, Hunslet, Dewsbury and London Broncos.

Last weekend’s game against the side from the capital was switched to Keighley when it became apparent that the Shay pitch would not be ready in time after a more extensive summer makeover than usual.

However, the pitch has been given the thumbs up for Sunday and Halifax chairman Michael Steele is urging everyone to get behind the team.

The club is promoting a £30 family ticket and is urging regulars to bring along a new or former supporters.

“You can feel the confidence returning to the club on and off the field,” he said.
