Gareth Greenwood’s side, looking to complete a hat-trick after wins over Oulton and Thatto Heath, had a poor first quarter and trailed 12-0 after 18 minutes.

Tries from prop Joe Groves and centre Wayne McHugh, plus two Nathan Fozzard goals put the visitors in the driving seat.

However, the Chevinedge men hit back in the last 13 minutes of the half to go in at the break on level terms thanks to touch downs from prop George Ambler and stand off Shaun Garrod, Chris Brooke adding both conversions.

There was no addition to the score in the third quarter but Lane regained the lead through McHugh’s second try, converted by Fozzard, and then an Aaron Dobek drop goal to make it 12-19.

Loose forward Gareth English got Siddal back within striking distance by scoring an unconverted try on 71 minutes but winger Connor Turner scored a clincher for the visitors,

Lane climb above Siddal into second place and the pair are both one point behind leaders Wigan St Patrick’s after 12 rounds of fixtures.
