Mr Wolstenholme’s death comes only a week after the passing of his beloved wife Dorothy.

Harry was a fearless prop forward who devoted his career to the club, whilst turning down offers from several professional rugby league clubs as well as opportunities to play rugby union at a senior level.

There will be very few, if any, who played against the ‘Crocs’ from 1948 to the 1960’s who do not know or remember him. He was a member of the Old Crossleyans 1960 Yorkshire Cup winning side, playing a major role in the memorable cup run and final.

Later in life, as well as being an enthusiastic motivator in improving the facilities at Standeven House, home of the Old Crossleyans, Harry embarked on a mission to improve rugby at ‘grassroots’ level, becoming a Yorkshire committee member and then representing the county at national level as part of the Rugby Football Union.

“His commitment to the club will never be forgotten and I doubt bettered”, said club chairman Howard Cooper.

“Despite not being very mobile for the last few years, Harry was still very active with ideas and ways the club could move forward. He was a one-off and a man admired and respected for his devotion to the game.”

Everyone at Old Crossleyans RUFC extend their sympathies and condolences to his family and many friends.
