Penrith pummelled as Heath register club record league win
Peerless Regional 1 North East leaders Heath recorded their biggest ever league win as they romped to a 115-5 home victory over Penrith on Saturday.
The sensational victory, in which the hosts bagged no fewer than 17 tries, extends Heath’s perfect league record to 15 wins and strengthens their grip on top spot.
Heath’s onslaught began with two minutes gone when Tom Clough sent Dan Cole over the line for a try converted by Chris Johnson.
Jake Haynes and Cole added to the try tally, Johnson improving both scores, before Heath secured the bonus point try with only 10 minutes gone. Jack Pilcher drove for the line from a line-out and Pete Hampshire bulldozed over for another Johnson-converted score.

There was no stopping the hosts as Alex McFadden crossed on the quarter hour. Johnson added the goal but missed his first conversion soon after when Harvey Keighley-Payne added his name to the try scorers’ list.
From the restart Penrith tried to get hold of the ball but Johnson intercepted on half-way and raced clear to score a self-converted try that extended the lead to 47-0 with only 25 minutes played.
The gallant visitors tried to find a response but were met by a solid defence and when Ezra Hinchliffe kicked a superb cross-field ball, Joe Morrison was on hand to collect and cross over for another converted try on the half hour.
Two minutes later, superb off-loads by Jack Pilcher and Hinchliffe allowed Ben Stringer to score under the posts for another converted try and from the restart a static Penrith defence allowed Joe Morrison to collect the ball on the halfway line and sprint to the corner to touch-down.

There was still time for another try before the break and Max Rowntree was in the right place to score a converted try that sent Heath into half-time with an astounding 73-0 lead.
The second half brought no respite for the Cumbrians and within two minutes Heath were over again, this time Pete Hampshire crossing the try-line for a converted try.
Penrith's case was not helped when they had a player carded and Heath took advantage, scoring two converted tries in as many minutes from Morrison and Hinchliffe, with half-an-hour left to play.
The visitors pressed for a try but Cole intercepted and released Morrison who ran the full length of the field to cross for a try converted by Hinchliffe that made it 101-0.

Heath continued to press the visitors' defence and Olly Cook and Chris Moore were on hand to score tries, converted by Hinchliffe and Johnson, who ended the day with 13 conversions to his name.
The visiting fans finally had something to cheer in injury time when their team grabbed an unconverted try but it did little to spoil the party for Heath, who host bottom side Cleckheaton on Saturday.
