Fax re-sign Saltonstall on two year deal

Halifax have re-signed threequarter James Saltonstall for 2019.

Saltonstall, who played his junior rugby with Siddal before turning professional with Warrington, joined Fax at the same time as head coach Richard Marshall four years ago.

And the former England Academy international, who will provide Marshall with options at centre and wing next season, has now put pen to paper on a new two year deal.

Halifax is my hometown club and it’s always a pleasure to pull the shirt on,” said Saltonstall.

“To get another two years here is great.

“I think definitely this year, in terms of the years that we’ve finished in the top four, it ranks as the highest because the level of competition in the Championship this season has been the toughest it has ever been.

“To be in there was a big achievement.”

Head coach Richard Marshall added: “It’s great for us and James to have him signed for two season as he’s a local lad who loves playing for Halifax.

“He’s so difficult to manage in defence when he’s on-song and he’s a really important player for us going forward.

“He makes loads of metres and his play-the-ball is lightning.

“I’m really glad that we’ve kept hold of James.”
