FEATHERSTONE captain Stuart Dickens has been charged by the Rugby Football League over the head-butt that sparked a second half brawl in last weekend’s Northern Rail Cup clash at the Shay.
Dickens, who was not punished by referee Robert Hicks at the time, is one of five players - two from Fax, three from Featherstone - who will appear before next Tuesday’s meeting of the disciplinary committee in connection with the incident.
Fax’s in-form loose forward Craig Ashall and Rovers’ Michael Haley, who were both sent off by Hicks, have been charged with striking, along with Ashall’s teammate Dane Manning and visiting back rower Andy Bostock.
Fax boss Karl Harrison told Courier Sport earlier this week that it was as clear as day that a Rovers player had sparked the fighting by butting home front rower Sean Hesketh, although he stopped short of naming Dickens.
Dickens’ charge is rated grade C, which carries a ban of between two and four matches.
Ashall and Bostock face grade B charges, rated at one to three games, while Manning and Haley’s grade A offences carry a maximum two week suspension.
