Halifax’s opening pre-season fixture, Sunday’s Infirmary Cup date with Huddersfield, has been postponed.
Fax officials released a terse statement on Saturday confirming the plug had been pulled by Calderdale Council, saying “the club had not been consulted”, in the expectation of rain on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The hope now, weather permitting, is that the fixture will be played on Wednesday evening, although that slot has not yet been confirmed.
“Calderdale MBC have decided that with rainfall due tonight, and the current condition of the pitch at MBi Shay Stadium will prevent tomorrow’s match proceeding,” read the statement.
Halifax chairman Michael Steele said: “The club was not consulted on this decision, neither has it been allowed access, out of hours, to the office to allow it to notify officials, volunteers, supporters and all the others involved in a matchday, of the match postponement.
“If you are aware of anyone who needs to know, please pass on this message.”
