HALIFAX have played down suggestions they have already completed a deal to bring Batley captain Paul Handforth to the Shay next season.
Handforth, the Bulldogs’ key playmaker, has been touted as a potential transfer target ever since Batley coach Karl Harrison was first linked with the club in July.
And the Bulldogs took the unusual step of releasing a statement today saying that Handforth, who can play in either half back position or at hooker, would be joining Fax.
Fax director Ian Croad stopped short of denying those claims completely, but reiterated the stance taken by Harrison that no incoming players would be confirmed until the club’s current season finishes.
“Until something is officially confirmed, it’s not official,” insisted Croad.
“Karl’s been very clear on this: We’re not going to comment on transfers until they are 100 per cent completed.
“It would be unprofessional to do anything else.”
