SWINTON’S former Halifax front rower Dana Wilson was killed in a road accident in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The Cook Islands forward, who spent three seasons at the Shay between 2007 and 2009 before joining the Lions, also played for Leigh, Oldham and Manly.
In a statement released last night, Swinton chairman John Kidd said: “The club is in deep shock at this devastating news.
“Dana was a great personality who has made a massive contribution to the success the club has achieved this season.
“He was a big character both on and off the pitch and our sympathy goes out to his family both here and in New Zealand.”
