Halifax have confirmed they will kick off their pre-season programme against Super League neighbours Huddersfield at the Shay on January 10 (3.0).
Richard Marshall’s side will then visit another top flight side, Widnes, the following Sunday, January 17 (3.0), before a third warm up fixture against Keighley at Cougar Park three days later on Wednesday, January 20 (7.30), with the proceeds from the final game going to the Danny Jones fund.
“It’s a good, balanced programme that will test us,” said Marshall, whose side announced their potential in this year’s pre-season campaign by beating Challenge Cup finalists Hull KR at Craven Park in January.
“We’ve a good relationship with Paul Anderson and Huddersfield and I expect them to send a team that will provide us with a real challenge on the day.
“It’s a similar story with Widnes; they’re a strong side, as we know from playing them in the Super 8s, and it will be a difficult game over there on their artificial pitch.
“The benefit of that is that, barring disaster, we know it’s likely to be played whatever the weather is like.
“The Keighley game is for a great cause and even though they’re not in the Championship at the moment it’s important we keep that derby going because it’s important for both clubs.”
