Halifax coach Karl Harrison will recall full back Ryan Fieldhouse and forward Adam Robinson for tonight’s crucial Championship showdown at Leigh (7.30).
Neither player figured in Sunday’s 18-16 home win over York, but both have been confirmed in Harrison’s side as Fax look to force their way back into the reckoning for a top two league finish.
But there are no places for newly signed prop Ben Davies, winger Rob Worrincy or centre Steve Tyrer.
“Fieldhouse and Robinson will both come back in,” confirmed Harrison, who will keep faith with Rikki Sheriffe in midfield at the expense of Tyrer, while Lee Paterson takes Worrincy’s place on the flank.
“Tyrer will miss out again, and that’s down to how well Rikki played against York.
“He did okay and deserves to keep his place.
“Davies trained fully last night but he has to earn the right to be selected.
“He is going to put a lot of pressure on the other front rowers though and they need to be aware of that.
“Rob’s not really been there for a couple of weeks; he’s not a million miles away either but as coaches we have to pick a side on form, as we have done all year.”
Victory tonight could send Fax top of the ladder, although only if Workington beat Sheffield in the night’s other fixture.
Either way, Swinton’s shock win over Featherstone at the weekend has re-opened a door Harrison admitted had looked to be closed after Rovers’ win at the Shay three weeks ago.
“Realistically, we thought the chance of a top two finish had gone,” said the former Test prop.
“We were relying on other teams and fortunately for us Swinton came up with a great result and things have opened up again.
“It’s about us now; if we keep winning, we will put pressure on the other sides and we’ll see how they respond to that.”
