Winger Alex Brown’s tenure as a Halifax player appears to be drawing to a close.
The much-travelled flanker, who has played Super League rugby for Hull KR, joined Fax from Leigh on a two year deal last autumn after being lured to the club by then coach Karl Harrison, who had been in charge of the player at Batley.
Harrison left the Shay soon after, but Brown still began 2015 as one of new boss Richard Marshall’s first choice wingers.
But he never regained his place after a horror performance at Sheffield in the spring, which saw his opposite number Rob Worrincy run in a hat-trick of tries, and finished the season on loan back at Batley.
Courier Sport understands Brown did not return to training with his teammates last week and seems unlikely to play for the club again.
Fax officials declined to comment on the player’s future, but it is thought that at least two Championship clubs - one of which is believed to be Batley - have expressed an interest in taking Brown for 2016.
