Halifax have signed the Huddersfield forward Jacob Fairbank after the former Elland amateur negotiated a release from the Giants.
Fairbank, a former Elland amateur, has already had two spells with his hometown club, on loan during in 2011 and again earlier this season, playing seven games for Richard Marshall’s side.
Fairbank’s arrival, ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, bolsters Marshall’s options ahead of the Super Eights Qualifiers, which kick off on the second weekend in August.
“We’ve been looking to strengthen and Jacob will be good for us,” said Marshall.
“He knows our systems and how we work and what we expect of him, so in that sense he’s absolutely ideal.
“We don’t need to start re-educating him.”
Fairbank has initially signed a short term deal that will run until the end of this season, although a longer-term stay seems probable.
