Fieldhouse: We’ll keep trying to spark attack

Halifax full back Ryan Fieldhouse has pledged the architects of the club’s misfiring attacking game will continue to work to get it right.

Fax have taken just two points of a possible six from their last two games against Workington and Leigh, despite dominating both matches for long periods.

And Fieldhouse, whose link with Karl Harrison’s half backs is a significant part of the club’s attacking strategy, is well aware things are not going as well as they would like,

“We couldn’t break the Crusaders down, which was disappointing,” said Fieldhouse, whose father, John, the former Fax front rower, is on the coaching staff in North Wales.

“It’s down to smartness and picking the wrong options.

“We need to make the right decisions with the ball and that’s something we really need to work on, both as a team and individuals.

“It looks good in practice, but for some reason at the moment that’s not transferring into games.

“We shouldn’t be losing on our own ground like that.”

Things are unlikely to get any easier during the next month, with a quartet of away games, starting at Rochdale on Sunday (3.0) and continuing at Dewsbury, Keighley and league leaders Leigh before a return to the Shay in mid June.

“Rochdale is not going to be easy,” said Fieldhouse.

“The season’s not halfway through yet, so we need to turn up and go and get the win.

“It’s a long year and we’re not done yet.”
